Your sustaining contribution of $250 will make it possible for WRCT to continue to offer quality local productions well into the future, despite the unpredictability of external conditions. Being a member of the Sustaining Membership Program says you acknowledge the importance of arts in the life of any community.

Our Mission:

The Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre, Inc. was established in 1975 as a community theatre whose purpose is to bring live theatre to the community.

Our Vision:

WRCT will provide the opportunity for all local residents to experience and develop an appreciation for the art of live theatre.

  • WRCT will present live theatre showcasing local talent in all phases of production.

  • WRCT will attempt to broaden the community’s cultural base by educating, informing, and offering opportunities for self expression.

The History:

The existing theatre was built in 2007 with a 1:1 matched challenge grant from Gilbert and Jaylee Mead and funds from the overwhelming support of the Wisconsin Rapids area citizens through a capital campaign. During the campaign, a very generous trust was established by Corinne & Earl Otto for the benefit of the community theatre. The earned income from this trust is used to defray operational expenses.

WRCT has been blessed to have received the financial support of the community to build and operate the Gilbert & Jaylee Mead auditorium
and the Studio Theatre. As a result, the group is able to provide an enhanced overall experience in the performing arts for its patrons. In order to
continue providing these opportunities, WRCT must plan for future needs.

The Challenge:

Up until 2012, external financial resources remained somewhat stable despite the troubled economy; however, 2012 saw steep
cuts from state funding resources. In addition, local grant programs are being redefined, while contributions from the private sector and
businesses have been declining. During the first 5 years in the new facility, costs remained somewhat constant as most equipment and
furnishings were new. In order to assure the continuation of quality programming, a cash reserve is essential to help pay for facility
repairs, maintenance and improvements.

The Need:

Facility needs include ongoing repair, replacement and maintenance as well as those items and equipment needed to enhance the overall experience for patrons.
The Sustaining Membership Program is being established to acquire sufficient dollars for annual capital projects and overall facility maintenance. This program
is separate from the annual appeal for operational expenses.

The Sustaining Member Program:

As a Sustaining Member, your annual contribution of $250 or more will help support the ongoing facility needs of WRCT. Operating funds obtained through the annual appeal simply cannot meet the growing needs of our facility. Your name will be proudly listed on the board located outside the theatre and in the WRCT Season Playbill along with those of the other Sustaining Members. Also included will be a list of improvements your dollars have helped
make that year. Your continuing annual support, due each June 1, will ensure that our theatre remains a showcase for the arts.

During the next 5-10 years, anticipated improvements will include:

  • Purchase projector for rentals
  • Rental charges for off-site storage
  • Improve sound quality in the theatre
  • Replace the main theatre light board
  • Purchase additional dimmer packs for
    theatre lighting control
  • Purchase wireless headsets
  • Purchase additional speakers
  • Install lighting system in Studio Theatre
  • Replace damaged stage drapery
  • Purchase scrim
  • Assisted listening devices
  • Replace seats and other theatre decor as necessary
