If our actors don't look right, all the rehearsals in the world will do no good. Our hair and makeup people make sure our actors look as good as they sound!
Hair and makeup crew duties are as follows:
Reading the script in order to be aware of the time period, the need for special makeup, and the movements of the cast on stage in order to determine when changes need to be made to hair or makeup
Checking with lighting people to find out what colors they will be using on the stage, as this affects complexion and hair colors
Determining which wigs, makeup, and other items are needed for the show
Setting up a schedule with the actors so that everyone's hair and makeup is done in a timely manner
Maintaining a schedule so there is an adequate crew for performance
Attending set strike and returning all wigs and other items to the storage facility, or to the proper owners
